Return to Treatment Advances

As parents, we all know that routine visits to the doctor are crucial to the development of healthy and happy children. It’s easy to focus on all of the booster shots and physicals, but your child’s oral health is just as important to maintain as everything else and should not go ignored as they age. Don’t just assume that visits to the dentist can wait until your child has a full mouth of teeth; in fact, it’s recommended that you schedule your child’s first visit to the dentist quite a bit sooner than that.

The American Academy of Pediatrics suggests that parents schedule their child’s first visit to the dentist by age 1 or by the time the first tooth erupts, whichever comes first. Though this may seem early, it’s necessary so that the child’s risk of developing cavities can be determined ahead of time. These days, more than 1 in 4 children in the U.S. have had at least one cavity by age 4, and many more develop cavities as early as age 2.

When the time comes for you to schedule your child’s first visit to the dentist, you owe it to yourself and to them to choose a dentist who truly understands the importance of your child’s oral well being.

At Woodstock General and Implant Dentistry, we work from day one to ensure that your child’s dental needs are met every step of the way.
